Warren Ambat: Most Innovative Teacher in Asia

Oops, we almost missed this story about our kailiyan Warren Ambat who was named last February as the Asian Region’s Innovative Teacher of the Year during the 2007 Microsoft Regional Innovative Teachers’ Awards. Just in case you missed our first blog post about him, Warren is a teacher from the Baguio City National High School who was named as one of the country’s most innovative teachers which qualified him to represent the Philippines in the Asia-wide competition in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

According to this Inquirer story, Warren bagged the top prize over 250 other teachers from 23 countries. More from the Inquirer:

His project, “Localization and Digitization: An Approach to Appreciating Shakespearean Plays,” aims to instill an appreciation for literature and culture in the students by using the Internet as a resource for materials on the works of English playwright William Shakespeare.

Eventually, students would be asked to produce short films that interpret some of Shakespeare’s works in a Filipino setting.

Congratulations sir! What about uploading those student-produced videos of Shakespeare’s plays in Youtube? So we, in turn, can put it here. We beg thee sire, we beseech thee. Uploadeth thee the videos of thy scholars onto Youtube. Oops, please pardon our poor and misguided attempt to speak Shakespeare’s language 🙂
