Last November 2006, Sabangan, Mt. Province Mayor Jupiter Dominguez was named as the nation’s Most Outstanding Municipal Mayor beating other nominees from different parts of the country.

Jocelyn Noe, who made our List of Igorot Achievers in Part 10, is a nurse and a poet who released a book of poems entitled Serendipity. This book was recently nominated by her publisher(Outskirts Press) to the EVVY Award given by the Colorado Independent Publisher’s Association “to recognize excellence in self-published and independently published books”. Results will be known on March 23, 2007. Congratulations Jocelyn! That’s quite an accomplishment. We hope you win.
As mentioned in our earlier post about Jocelyn, her poems have a “distinctly Igorot feel and color.” Here are two poems (which we copied from her blog and from her publisher’s website) to illustrate what we meant.
Since we can’t give medals like the ones pictured above (courtesy of the North American Indigenous Games) to our fellow Igorots who topped professional board exams, the next best thing is to include them in our List of Achievers. Those listed here are taken from the website of the University of the Cordilleras/Baguio Colleges Foundation (UC-BCF) and from news reports released by the Professional Regulations Commission for board exams conducted in 2006. Unless the school is indicated, the topnotcher is from UC-BCF.
