Here’s the second funny video. As we mentioned earlier, we hope to find more funny videos made by our kailiyans, upload them here, and conduct a poll towards the end of the year so you could vote for the funniest video.
Now, this video comes dangerously close to becoming offensive. It has footages of the Lang-ay Festival in Mt. Province accompanied by the Soca Boys’ song Follow the Leader. It is a cheeky video which almost crosses the line but never actually does (at least to me).
We sometimes sound like G & D (grim and determined) activists, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have a sense of humor. When we are hungry for a laugh we usually go to Youtube to look at what our fellow netizens are producing these days. As it happens, some of our kailiyans have been uploading really funny stuff which we decided to upload here because you might be looking for something to lighten up your day.
Now, what about making some sort of a contest out of this? What we will do is to upload the funny videos we find and then, maybe sometime in December, we will make a poll to get your opinion on the funniest video of the year. Because this is the internets and because we are a cash-strapped blogger, whoever wins will only get a title such as Igorot/iCordillera Funniest Video or some other similar title. So if you are the winner, no cash or any kind of material reward will go your way. But you will have the satisfaction of knowing that people appreciate your video.
If it has not done so already, the City of Ghent in Belgium is planning to name one of its streets after a Bontoc Igorot named Timicheg. Why the honor, you might wonder? Along with other Igorots, Timicheg was brought to Ghent by an American impressario to be displayed during the World’s Fair held in that Belgian city. So it’s sort of like the European version of the St. Louis World Exposition where Igorots were also displayed. As the story goes, the Igorots were then abandoned by their manager and our kailiyan Timicheg died reportedly because of depression and the cold weather.
Ambeth Ocampo has the story which I am shamelessly stealing and posting here. Anyways, are you related to Timicheg by any chance?
You might want to read the previous updates here. We are making another post for these updates because we are sure that there will be more developments in the future and we don’t want the original post to get really long.
UPDATE 6: Now the police is denying that it named a suspect to Vice Governor Diasen’s murder. ABS-CBN reports here. As we said earlier, the police will be serving the people better if they stop yacking publicly about their speculations and to just do their work in silence.
NOT SO FAST iTABUKS, YOU DON’T HAVE A CITY YET. The bill converting Tabuk into a city lapsed into law last March 30 but the whiny, bratty, clubbish, “kami lang ang may karapatang maging siyudad at sa amin lang ang revenue allotment” League of Cities in the Philippines filed a petition before the Supreme Court questioning the legality of the law. Now the iTabuks will have to wait for the SC decision before they hold a plebiscite to approve or reject Tabuk’s cityhood.
