Rep. Victor Dominguez, 2008

Our condolences to the family of Mt. Province Congressman Victor Dominguez (leftmost in above photo) who succumbed to cardiac arrest this afternoon. Here’s an Inquirer report by Frank Cimatu:

Representative Victor S. Dominguez of the lone district of Mountain Province succumbed Friday to cardiac arrest and complications from diabetes at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City. He was 72.

Mountain Province Governor Maximo Dalog said Dominguez had been sick for sometime. “The province is deeply mourning his death and his provincemates would like to pay their last respects,” said Dalog.

Dominguez served as Mountain Province representative from 1987 to 1998 and from 2004 to present. He was replaced by his wife, Josephine, in 1998.

He ran but lost to Roy Pilando in the 1998 elections. Pilando died before finishing his term.

Dominguez belonged to an influential family in the Cordillera. His father, Alejandro, was a former mayor of Sabangan, the family hometown, while his older brother, Honorio, served as mayor of Tadian town.

A civil engineering graduate of Saint Louis University here, Dominguez started as a gravel-and-sand dealer and contractor.

Meanwhile, we learn from bibaknets that the Congressman will be at the Batasan on Tuesday, February 12. The following day, February 13, he will be transported to Baguio for interment.

  5. I was in Tuguegarao this week when I heard the news about Cong. Dominguez. MPSPC students in the Press Conference that I attended first broke the news and I was shocked that they were happy (bakit kaya?). Sino kaya papalit sa kanya? Misis nya Congresswoman din before di ba? Siya kaya ang papalit?

But still…Condolences to the Dominguez family.

  6. Mr Cawalo said “mangsis iyek ken sya”….if my translation is correct, and I think it is, it’s a very BOLD statement to make. In time of sorrow, I really can’t imagine ANYONE doing that, regardless of adversarial position people are into.
Sapay koma abes ta you will have a change of heart and only him will judge those whom you think had misgivings in a vile way. Cheers to you and condolences to the late Solon and his families.
    Cheers to all and goodhealth.

  9. It is sad to see this solon leave his province (he has so longly represented) still struggling and deeply buried in corruption and poverty. It is more disheartening to see him leave his family (meaning his clan) divided because of politics and greed.

As we quote from the Bible…Matthew 16:26
What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?…

What good will it be for a “leader” if he gains all the money and power yet loses the respect of his family and relatives, his dignity and honor because of greed.

May I quote from one of the columnists in a widely circulated newspaper in baguio city…

‘Why is it that we do not mourn his passing? That’s the problem when you stay too long. Instead of shedding tears, they say “good riddance.”‘

a very very long time public servant who has not truly served the public.

  10. to the person who said that the death of cong. vic was a “karma”.. shame on you! you don’t know what you are talking about!

  11. san nemnemen et san gawis ay inyatne sinan ili tako. amin ay binokel di Diyos et wada di kamali na…

On this day, Feb.16, 2008, it was blue heaven in Baguio City. Thousands of people were gathered at Military Cut

off and have attended the funeral of the late Cong.Victor Dominguez. Mass was held in house. Before the body of

the late cong. was carried to his grave Honey Boy,”Victor Luis Dominguez Jr. the youngest son, said his messages of

thanks and further said; “We are only human, who commits mistakes, also lakay Victor, so therefore apologies and

forgiveness is trustworthy. We let him peacefully go, to the Glory of God. When the body of the late cong. was

carried out to his grave, which was built adjacent to the family house, the Phil. National Flag, covering his

coffin, illuminated with the very bright sunlight. This was later folded and given to his wife Josie. This flag

symbolized the devotedness of the cong. to his people and country. Thousands of people prayed for his soul and

have witnessed his very official burial.

On the other side of this world, are few lonesome, coward, anonymous people sat before their computer and wrote

their comments. The person concern is dead, but still their ill-treats does not end. And to put the kibosh on

silence, I am answering these following comment.

Comment No.1. It is said, to this solon leave his Province (he has so longly represented) still struggling and

deeply buried in corruption and poverty. It is more disheartening to see him leave his family (meaning his clan)

divided, because of politics and greed.

My answer: Open your eyes and ears. Poverty was instinct in the prov. It was ragged and gloomy but managed to

crawl. Tell me your name, I invite you. We walk on the cemented roads and pathways under electric lights. We meet

High school students who are studying in the barrios and college students studying in the capital Prov. Bontoc.

They were out of sight before, before the cong.represented the province. Don`t tell me, Corruption is a worldwide

virus, but the late cong. have overcomed this sickness and was able to convert our ragged, gloomy prov. into a

GAWIS AY MOUNTAIN PROVINCE; What more do you like? Politics, yes he came from a talented politician family clan.

And being a politician is not a greed. It was the people who glamoured for him and they elected him again and

again, because they trusted him better as the other. Alas, those 1,2,3 members of the family clan, made their own

way, as a result of enjoying the “Freedom of Democracy.” We Filipinos are enjoying the “Human Rights”so therefore

we are free. Neither they were convinced by the misleading opinion of the begruding people. You,the writer of

this comment, maybe one among the conspirator? Don`t worry, we family clans have still concern to one another. For

your information, A. Pilando, who ones lost his way, found his way back home. So, we were together during the

burial of our uncle. I know those member of the clan, who failed to come, maybe they were guilty or their weak mind

was still handled by their conspirators. Sooner or later, we the clans may re-unite.

Comment No. 2 As we quote from the Bible Mathew 16:26, What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world

    yet forfeits his soul.

My Answer: If thy know to read and copy the wordings of the Bibel, thy know also the real things and should be a

GOOD MODEL; Alas, thy forfeited of having the “big, big coke, coca cola,” which lead you comments like this. It`s a

hyperbole, for no simple man on earth can gain the whole world. Furthermore, the soul of the late cong. is not

forfeited, instead it was BLESSED. He have done enough good things for the people, so the Almighty God, took him

into his Kingdom, while you sinner remain on earth to serve for your sins.

Comment No. 3 What good will it be for a leader if he gains all the money and power yet loses the respect of his

family and relatives, his dignity and honor because of greed.

My answer- Really! The late cong. Victor Dominguez, have had esteem Leadership and power, so the majority people

preferred him better as the other. Money he gave to the people who needs it. He left with empty pocket. but

satisfied because he knew he have done his duty. In return, he have seen and felt the respect of his people.

Sorry! The respect of those 1,2,3, dociled relatives is “gone with the wind”. They were the one who lost their own

dignity and honor because they were bedeviled. They became greedy because they were enticed. You, maybe one among

the conspirators? Who neither didn`t have the power and leadership? So, they lost their way.

Comment No. 4 Why is it that we do not mourn his passings? That`s the problem when you stay too long. Instead of

shedding tears. They say “good riddance.”

My answer: To the one concern, the way you expressed yourself, reflected your real personality. Your jealousy,

retarted your very little brain. Mourn for yourself, then it`s a good riddance.

Comment No. 5 Very very long time public servant, who has not truly served the public.

My answer: You are maybe deaf and blind, so you did not hear and see. You are maybe moron, so you did not realize.

You are maybe an outlaw, so he did not serve you. You maybe belittled his help, so you are not satisfy. Why! If the

late congressman was not a truly public servant, why did the people elected him again and again? He was even the

Incumbent Congressman of Mountain Province, when he died.

  14. BALLAD OF SABANGAN (Through Inter-Adventure)

As we widely spread our vision
Oh! How lucky are the young generations

    They have gone, their adventure

    Internet rapidly connects people
From land to land and everywhere
    Is an amusement now adays
    Also give educational discoveries

Oh! My hamlet you are far far away
I have clicked the box and wanted to see
    Some co-indigenes related good stories
In a certain blog, are Lyric free

Poems, musics, movies in gloomy surrounding
Pure in black is horror terrifying
    Shiny spear in the middle
    Have confused, I was entangle

Freespirit why you are in black?
What startled, what makes you aback?
Can we not be in Diplomatic
It`s only human to commit mistake

    Freespirit adventured to America
From third world as far as Europa
    Around Australia, to New Zealand
Where movie “Herr the Ring” had begun

    GARDEN OF EDEN

    Through Internet I have seen
    Welcome to Garden of Eden
That garden has no apple tree
But poems, musics, movies are Lyrics Free

    The elders were very generous
During matins they made a sign of cross
    Come let us sing together
When the morning prayer is over

His excellence played his secret game
The elders later, recited their long poem
The oblates folded their hands and pray
But the young ones need space where to play

Develop the hidden talent of your children
Someday, somehow you may see them on the screen
Sportlers now adays are Nation`s pride
They need the training gym, that is wide

Oh yeah! Music was played very loud
That bring us neighbor in great astound
    Movie was everywhere presented
    Neither they did never succeed

The banana made that garden very popular
But the hamleters ideas was not singular
    “Goodbye Sabangan,” it was said
Alas, poor Sabangan, you have descended

    BANANA SPLIT

    Went over the open letters
    Written over the printed pictures
It is very clear to understand
Very much concern, is my beloved land

Oh! My God please have mercy
What`s wrong going on in my country
    Why satanic, sadistic and bloody?
Although, we were doctrined to christianity

With spear overhead they fought for victory
Alas, they were weak and very very sorry
Defeated army must remove his helm
Neither the banwagon was not overwhelm

Eating the same banana they were fed-up
That very long envied pride they gave-up
They preferred to eat banana split
That neither resulted their own defeat

    FROM NOTHING COMES NOTHING

    Self discipline is everyones pride
While we wander in the country side
    Self understandings is very wise
    Interwooven ideas, learn to realize

Sometimes father refuse to give bread
When daughters and sons does not behave
    Hence, from nothing, comes nothing
This is a common way of thinking

Free Education Program was in his “Ass”
“Der Arsch” might have full and blase
    Anonymous was maybe disobedient
Therefore was not given a present

    THE PRINCE

Have clicked and clicked to study
    Full of challenges and curiousity
    Lyrics writer cleverly disguise
But in little thing he was not wise

Oh! Prince of Persia, what is wrong?
The spear over your head, you looks so strong
To go on strike, may you not succeed
Might be your downfall at the end

Be calm and think of your little pilgrim
Who are looking forward and imagine
They maybe the hope of tomorrow
When peace and order they follow

WHAT IN HIS MIND? AND THE KING

The cat have clicked on the mouse
The death of the KING they applause
But found later, it was useless
Coz, the word: “GREAT” is meaningless

The King of the Road is dead
To mourn, was for them not needed
They rejoiced and went drinking spree
    Because they were SPIRIT FREE

Death have kissed Congressman Victor Dominguez
Anonymous, wish it would be Josephine Dominguez
She was the Imelda of Marcos
Why? What lead you, to this accuse

    Anonymous was tired and weary
Became sick of being very angry
Spear have pricked the bleeding heart
    Through Internet it was impart

But, we have to live but once
Why not sing, dance and try to balance
    We have had lived yesterday
    Tomorrow, is also a day

HIS EXISTENCE DEPENDS ON YOUR FAITH

A hobo amused them with his prayers
    He depends on faithful believers
    Please give me a home
There was no place to roam

The story was long long ago
So the young ones didn`t know
But the elders are still there
They were not a great pretender

Hamlet father had “pet project” for his children
But the Holy father was not his dream
He wanted a church, where to pray
Rather than a gym, where to play

But that edifice is a multi-purpose
Where to play and to pray, it could be use
    Only it needs solid unity
To those concern in the community

But egoism was part of the game
    That confused the innocent children
In that Holy land stood an oblate
Fallacies, was preached by the pirates

In that little town was center of attraction
To the others, it was a sensation
Father and son was the top topic
    That later ended “supersonic”

Jesus Christ raised from his grave
Three days, after he was dead
    Congressman Victor Dominguez, was re-elected
After eight months and eight days he was dead

The ballad of Sabangan, is here printed
For the people near and far to read
Have faith in God, and you shall be blessed
I wish, the young generations, learn to behave.

Lolita Perschbacher, Germany, October 19, 2008. Note: If you click the FrEedOM Lyric, it`s there the writer based some of her ideas.

  15. Ooops! Not to manipulate the Bible, I rather write this way.
    jesus Christ,died and was buried
On the third day he raised from his grave
    Congressman Victor Dominguez, was re-elected
After eight months and eight days he was dead.

  16. By the way, “The Ballad of Sabangan,”was formulated through actual seeing, hearing, Internet Adventure and finally through research. I have some documents.

To dilate, I may too shot my comments to commentators. First of all, my sincere thanks to those who faithfully sent their condole, during the passing of the late Congressman Victor Dominguez. No matter how good or how bad a person was, in time of death, there is grief. “Good Bless” Thank you for your comforting messages.

To the others, your comments was also read and understood. It would be better, you commented while the person concern was still alive. I may have overreacted, when I answered some comments. But! If thy can throw stones, I can do as well. If thy have horn, I also have. But I am using my horn to defend, but not to provoke.

Going all over the comments, it is to know that some people are warm hearted, some are cold hearted, while others are childish. Politicians have only friends and enemies. However, it is still very dignifying, because the late congressman have more friends.

To the people of Mt. Province, friends or enemies, don`t deny that you are enjoying the comfortabilities, which was gained through the PIETY of the late Congressman Victor Dominguez. My great compliment to those who have heartfelt of gratitude.

With open eyes, I am writing here how was life before. For the sake of those people concern.

During my young age in 1960s, life in the prov. was very poor. I thought we the people of Mt. Prov. were the poorest among the poor. But later realize that, children of Mt. Prov. are maybe lucky of not “kal-kal di basura,” as compared to those children in Tondo Manila. Life in the prov. was hard but thankful, because each of us have acre land as source of sustenance. Of course, labor is needed. Life was primitive, but thankful, because in my village, a rough ragged road is passingby. Also there is complete elementary school.

So was that life, that cannot just fade-out from the vision. The poverty opened the eyes. The challenges lead the way. I walked barefooted. How often I “sikdod” my toes on the ragged road with no electric light. Painful, but I limped on. How often I “kadlos,” on slippery pathways. I stood up and went on. How often I crossed the overflowing river with my own risk. Because there no bridge. Most villages was reached by “saka-mobil,” because no road. I have seen school children who walked rain or shine from: Banao, Lagawa, Tapapan, Letang, Leseb. They came to Guinzadan, to finish their elementary grade. They attended classes half wet, because of early morning dew or rain. Life was very pitiful but we dared to share laughters. Poverty was before the eyes, but we learn to behave.

Young generations today, you are lucky. Schools are before your nose. Even High School and College. You can study your lessons with electric light, instead of “saleng.” You are better secured now. You can reach other villages by automobil. You can watch TV. You can operate your Handys and Internets to easily transmit your messages, even your UNPRINCIPLED ideas.

The luxuries you are enjoying now, did not just came down from the MOON, by loud singing HALLELUJAH. The late CONGRESSMAN VICTOR DOMINGUEZ, hardly work for those. Those are the fruits of his very hard mental work, because of his PIETY to you people of Mountain Province.

    Commenting Lolita Perschbacher.

  17. from the observation post in Mt.Polis:85 percent of mountain province will say that he was corrupt.10 percent will keep mum and look the other way cos they are beneficiaries.the other 5 percent will defend him and his so called “dynasty” and could even go to the distance of calling him a Saint….why?cos they are RELATIVES!
People we have to move on!!!

  18. I was appalled to all this rubbish word for the late congresman Victor dominguez. If I were you, look for the positive thing that the late cong. did in Sabangan. Am still proud of my province development, although I did not leave there, but we go as a family to visit my dad’s hometown.

  19. To Soysoyoc commentator: Read the comments of Padli to awake you. Also to Kachiw: Oops! Saint is far beyond the star. Don`t go hyperbolical. Relatives, even the son said;”Lakay Victor, was only a human.” You better go all over the comments then, review the percentages of your observations. FINALLY READ THE COMMENTS OF PADLI: People common, move on and enjoy reading.

  20. i was just wondering how come the Dominguez family is not included in the “buildrs of baguio city”????? i was looking at the list and alot of them are not even baguio/mt province born???? mga dayo ba!!!! why is that? i emailed the contact listing months ago but have not heard from them…

  21. all I can say from the comments is. How I pity the congressman. Having been. Loving
person to have his own nieces and nephews destroy him. I have heard that he have them everything til they abused him he still did. What a shame such
animals. I can therefore conclude that those rude and immoral comments were written by those animals who owe every drop of blood they have to the late congressman. I may not have known him personally but on the ratio of hate I believe the animals are 2oo% full of it.

  22. KASASADOT AY NATEYAN NAN IB-A TAKO AY SI APOH CONGRESSMAN.SAPAY KOMA TA SI APOH DI BUMADANG SIN IIB-A AY INA TINAYNAN.AMO TAKO AY ENGGAY IMAN INPAPATINA AY EN NANSILBI KEN DATAKO AY KAKAILINA.ET PALUBOSAN TAKO CISYA AY MAN-IBBAY. ET SAN LAGIP NA KMA YAN SAY UMA-ANENG KEN DATAKO.
MAY ENGGAY NAS IBAGAK ET MAWADA KOMAY MAYAT AY NEMNEM KEN DATAKO.
    MATAGO-TAGO TAKOH AMIN AY IIPUGAW.
    THANK YOU!!!!

  23.
