Yesterday, since I came down from the boondocks, I’ve been trying to write a thank you post to express my gratitude to all of you for making us win Tina’s contest but I found it hard to find the right words to say. Sounds like the lyrics of an 80s song but it’s true. Hehe. Maybe it was a blogger’s block of some kind. Or maybe my brain is just trying to adjust again to Manila’s oxygen-deprived air. But writing this is a bit challenging than I thought it would be.
Anyway, I first thought of writing a thank you speech. Kind of like the speeches that award winners deliver when they receive their trophies. My first attempt went like this:
Wow. This is totally unexpected. I am both humbled and honored by your support. I’d like to thank my parents for raising me well. I’d like to thank all my blogger friends for clicking all those links even though they might get carpal tunnel syndrome. I’d like to thank Gloria for her credit grabbing which prompted me to start this blog.
I’d like to thank the barbershop for my hair, the shoe makers in Baguio for my “real leather” shoes. I’d like to thank Almighty God, the great I am, immovable rock, omnipotent, powerful, awesome Lord, victorious warrior, commanding King of Kings.
Then I did a double take and said, “Hmm, those last words sound familiar.” Evil Bill replied, “Of course, it sounds familiar you dingbat. You are stealing the lyrics of When God Ran silly.”
Because I didn’t want to be called a dingbat I said, “Okay, okay, I will no longer write an Academy Award sounding thank you speech. I will ask na lang the help of Gandang Igorota, Ivadoy Country, and Fongakhan. Because they are linguists, maybe they will help me say thank you in the different Cordillera languages.
But then Evil Bill said, “Huh, you’re asking too much. And you’re supposed to be the Good One. Don’t you realize that their fingers are tired after all that clicking you made them do because you shamelessly kept begging them to continually vote for you.”
“Okay, okay, I will not do it,” I said.
Anyway, I then thought of looking for Youtube videos which could help me express my gratitude. But I spent a great deal of time looking for the right video but can’t find one.
This video for instance is okay but not 100% appropriate. First, in no way do I look like this singer Roger Moore who, I’m sure, you also never heard of before. Second, he is thanking his fans whereas I would like to thank you my fellow bloggers and readers. And third, what does “Wanna thank you for never ever loosinβ face” suppose to mean. Maybe Roger or whoever wrote that song was also oxygen-deprived when s/he came up with the lyrics, no?
Since Roger Moore’s Thank You song will not do, I continued searching and found this one. It is a 1980s Chrysler thank you commercial. If you are wondering why American automakers lost to their Japanese competitors, maybe this video will provide some clue. Maybe the Americans spent their time marching as they do in this commercial while the Japanese were quietly improving their cars’ quality and fuel efficiency hehe.
Then I found this video featuring a politician, which I’m putting here only because I’m wondering whether our politicians ever said thank you to the people who voted for them. But then, if you sell your vote like some Mt. Province voters do, eh huwag ka ng aasa ng thank you.
So there. Three videos but I still haven’t found the right one. Disgusted with my failure Evil Bill said, “Duh, just say thank you the conventional way. That’s better than not putting up a timely thank you post.”
Well, I must admit that Evil Bill does give good advice sometimes. So let me take this opportunity to thank all of you.
Thanks to those who asked their readers to vote for this blog, even though they themselves could have joined the contest:
Lovelyn of My Raconteur Attempts. Thanks for campaigning for this blog and for providing updates in my absence.
Jane of Page 101 who also campaigned in her post here and who also did an update.
Nats of Kalinga Tambayan who campaigned for this blog in his forum.

Bahod, Ganda of Gandang Igorota (who coined a new term, i.e., Biligers), Ironheart, Blue Ever After, Adiak Ammo, Cdom, Pinehills, Suklay, JMM, Salt and Pepper, and Omom of OP Blogs Me.
Thanks also to the following who expressed their support and voted for this blog: Arcibald of Crooked Through, the Anitokid of Anitokid Chronikos, Chi Balmaceda-Gutierrez of Chi from the Cool Clouds, Ody Batay-an Cua of Ody’s Corner, Trublue (who almost had carpal tunnel syndrome), JMom of AMoores, Pagano, Layad of Me, Myself, and I and the countless anonymous others who also clicked for From the Boondocks. In case I missed some names, please tell me in the comments.
Last but not the least, thanks to Tina of My Good Finds for organizing this really fun contest. I’m glad she is also giving a prize to Rachel as suggested by some of you. Thanks also to Rachel of the Heart of Rachel for being such a good sport.
Pahabol: My thanks also to Jack CariΓ±o for your votes. Thanks Chi π
Dakkel ay iyaman ken dakayo am-in. Big thanks to all of you.
P.S.
I’m pleasantly surprised by the support of people who I haven’t met online (or maybe I’ve met them anonymously) like Talacca, Connie, Yapeng, Sarah, May, R. Bahod, Blue Ever After, Adiak Ammo, Cdom, Suklay, JMM, and Salt and Pepper. If you have a blog that I am not aware of, please inform me so I will add your blog to our blogroll. If you don’t have a blog yet, I encourage you to start your own blog because blogging is fun π

Hi Layad,

This cyber celebration only shows that the Pan-Cordillera consciousness is blooming, very reliable.
We are The New Tribes!
Jack CariΓ±o voted for you, too. He did so ahead of me, several times pa nga, ha-ha!
Anyway, the grand dame — Ms. KK — of “mygoodfinds” deserves to be congratulated also. She made everyone a winner. May her own tribe increase.
Mabuhay, Agbiag tayo Amin and, as usual — May the blessings be!
Hi Nadjhin,

Hi Lovelyn,
Hindi the “yo wazzup” is the power of Governor Teddy na ginaya ni Trublue kasi ginaya naman natin ang kanyang “Cheers” π Thanks.
Hi Omom,
Mahirap pala kasi na gumawa ng thank you speech eh, kaya kung ano ano na ang pinaggagawa ko hehe. Buti ka pa you are travelling around the world π Thanks.
Hi Trublue,
Oo nga, let’s look forward to her post on Dubai. Maybe there will also be anti-Bush posters π Cheers.
