People Vs. Duntugan: Guilty as Charged

One of the major stories we covered in this blog, the killing of Peace Corps volunteer Julia Campbell and the subsequent trial of Juan Duntugan for murder, is now kinda coming to an end. The court has found that Duntugan is guilty of murdering Campbell and sentenced him to life in prison. I’m reprinting the Inquirer story below.

Rapelling at the Kiangan War Memorial


I don’t know about you but this video bugs me a lot. I visited the Kiangan War Memorial ten years ago and I really appreciate what the government did in putting up this shrine which commemorates the bravery of our foreparents during World War II. So I’m a little shocked and quite irritated that this guy and his companions are using the shrine for their rappelling activities.

Dude, it’s a shrine. A shrine is almost like a church or any place of worship. It is almost like a burial ground hallowed by the dead who lie there.

Kalinga Woman Tops New York University Class

Some of you may have read this already while others may not have seen it so let’s upload it here. Congratulations to our kailiyan from Kalinga.

GMA: A woman from Kalinga province graduated at the top of her class at the State University of New York Plattsburg Campus last week.

Phillyne Rhaiza Sugguiyao Shiu topped her hotel, restaurant and tourism management class, graduating magna cum laude with the highest general percentile average (GPA) of 3.7-3.89 during the College Spring Commencement Exercises.
