Two groups of MP studes win in int’l blogging contest

Bontoc, Mt Province (5 April) — Two groups of Mountain Province General Comprehensive High School (MPGCHS) students are champions in the two rounds of international blogging contest sponsored by the Southeast Asian Ministries of Education Organization, Regional Language Center (SEAMEO-RELC).
Nine third year students of section Aves under the advisory class of Mrs. Virginia A. Batan placed first in the first round of competition I of the Regional Schools Internet Project 2007 (RSIP 2007). The group members consisted of Effie Almendral, Allen Joy Tactay, Alloisa Ann Diaz, Audrey Jeanne De Leon, Harley Lacbawan, Kuyappi Cecilia Dayag and Tanya Joy Chaokas. Their blog features the best places in the Philippines.

The first round of competition lasted from August to October 2007. Also winning in the first round is a group from Bartley Secondary School, Singapore.
Members of the winning group in the second round of competition from November 2007 to February 2008 are Antoinette Claire Kiat-ong, Desiree Sokoken and this writer. The group’s blog discussed the three things that they call the Philippines unique. The winning entry can be viewed at www.deseret08.blogspot.com. A group from Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan School, Brunei also won an award.
This competition is open to high school students internationally. The competition consists of two rounds. Each round lasts for three months.
Participants are given topics to discuss in their blog sites, then they view each other’s blog and comment on them. All blog entries are judged on the content, presentation and language, quality of comments and discussion contributed and received. Each winning blogger is awarded S$1,000. Participants can either be in teams or individual.
