Giving scholarships to deserving students is one praiseworthy thing that the government is doing. Again congratulations to the scholars, you are a big help to your parents. These figures for Ifugao, Kalinga, and Apayao are indeed lamentable…
My newphew and niece from Kiangan (Ifugao) were very talented and I knew several people in that province to have excelled well. Good Lord!!! Just bewildered where have all those talents went?? MP with only six?? It would be a relief to know if some are on the Baguio List..
You know Bill, TruBlue don’t have much, but if there’s one out there who couldn’t afford college coz of financial hindrance, I can probably help. Only someone with above average IQ and quite determined to get a degree. My qualms about this is, will there be success when all is said and done? Know of a female friend who is supporting one. To anyone who did it, not sure what the success rate is?? A considerable portion of pork barrel should be directed to education of well-deserved kids.
That’s not much to ask. Wonder if Richard Gomez can help?? Everytime he speaks, he says: sports and education are my advocacies. Can’t wait how many from CAR/Baguio actually wasted their votes for this dud!

Actually maraming pumasa sa Kalinga. It has passers for both the Merit and S&T scholarships baka yung sa taas lang (the Merit one) ang napansin mo. Instead of giving pork barrel to Congressmen, dapat talagang gawin is for the gov’t to offer more scholarships to students directly.
Ang nangyari sa MP, the Congressman used his pork barrel to pay the tuition fee of those going to the Mt. Province State Polytechnic College. It’s a good move because people can go to school. But at the same time, I can’t help feeling cynical because siyempre he now has many supporters among the youth who will do as he bids. Eh kung wala na kasing pork barrel na iyan and just directly give scholarships to students di mas maganda.
Don’t worry too much about long comments. As long as you are not defaming anyone, or unnecessarily attacking others, or making x-rated comments, or inciting people to rebellion/sedition then okay lang sa akin. Although puwede na rin to incite people to rebellion considering how bad the country is in. That would be okay with me pero baga idemanda ka ni Ate Glo hehehe. Thanks again.
…regarding the mp congressman’s pork barrel which he used to fully subsidize tuition fees at the mpspc- i have no problems, whatsoever, about it. if the students just strive to attain whatever they aspire for and not play hanky-panky just because the tuition is free, then every cent of the congressman’s pork barrel should have been very well-spent. the education which they will receive should mold them into responsible, thinking, independent individuals.
not unless the pork induces the college’s administration to create an ‘idol ko si vic 101’ subject, then we should cry ‘foul.’
and one more thing, the pork barrel comes from the taxes paid by the people and it’s but right that it should benefit them. using it to educate the kids is probably one of the endeavours which that fund is best utilized.:-)

In fairness, we still have to hear of a “Vote for Vic 101” subject in MPSPC hehe. Now, it would be interesting to see how the MPSPC students would react/vote in the coming elections. I’m sure they know that the “pork barrel” funds came from taxes and not from the Congressman’s own personal funds; whether this would translate to students voting for who they really want to vote for or whether they will vote for Vic out of a misplaced “utang na loob” is worth finding out, no?
yeah, i guess they should increase the quota, kasi ang alam ko is even though many have passed, only few will qualify because of the limited slots. sadly, some of the people who received the scholarship just pay the expense and fly away to other countries. hindi naman sila masisi dahil anu nga ba ang P10,000 na sahod ng guro dito sa P115,000 sa ibang bansa and that’s a big gap!

They are lucky.Iam one to of those thousands looking for a scholarship.Even though Im still hanging its already a consulation to me knowing that there are scholarships offer in the internet.Looking forward of a bright tommorow.
