From the North County Times: On Friday, hundreds of family members and friends gathered at Poway’s St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church to celebrate the life and mourn the passing of [Sgt. Michael] Tayaotao.
The son of Filipino immigrants was remembered for his positive outlook, hearty laugh and ready smile.
Those memories came with many grins and many tears during his two-hour funeral service and subsequent burial with full military honors at nearby Dearborn Cemetery. More here.

In addition, he was also awarded the Purple Heart which to me was really inconsequential coz of his status and I meant no offense to anyone.
Anyways, everything went well. Got to see some old friends (da famous Gregory Boys) and relatives in California (meron pala akong kins there, hehe).
Mario Bansen’s rendition of the classic song “You’ll never walk alone” during the mass was quite moving and impressive, better than Elvis, and I kid you not as Anito Kid would say.
From what I’ve heard, the Wednesday and Thursday vigils were also used to read all the comments made in your blog and other blogs which came from friends, relatives, and all those anonymous ones who expressed their condolences and sympathies.
I skipped the launcheon after the burial services and scooted home.
So tired of my travels that I slept
Saturday and Sunday like a pig ala Malu F, hehe….
Will send you a couple of pics I took and you can post them if you desire, and you don’t have to too.
Cheers to all and goodhealth…
Hi Trublue,
Thanks so much. Great to have you back 🙂 Please do email us the pictures you took and we will upload them along with your comments. Thanks again and welcome back.
Correction: Several websites have stated that Michael was from Sunnyvale but in fact he was born at Balboa Hospital and raised in Poway California.
