Here’s our third funny video. It is not hilariously funny but our kailiyan from La-Trinidad does resemble boxer Manny Pacquiao in some aspects. His attempt to mimic Pacquiao’s attempt to speak English is kind of fun. Credit for this video goes to Rafael Manuel Jr.
JAILED ABROAD. Several Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from the Cordilleras were jailed in Saudi Arabia for 11 months because one of their companions allegedly tried to ship 2.3 kilos of gold owned by the Saudi Arabia Mining Co. Our kailians are now back home but they have not received their wages, overtime pay, and other benefits. [Source: Manila Times]. More information from the Northern Dispatch: some of the OFWs were tortured while others are still languishing in jail.
ELECTION FEVER. Gabriela Women’s Party names Igorot activist and former Overseas Filipino Worker as its third nominee to Congress. Flora Baniaga-Belinan (photo above) used to work as a domestic helper in Hongkong but is now doing advocacy work in Baguio. Northern Dispatch: “Flora was at the forefront of various major advocacies for the rights and welfare of migrants in Hongkong. She also promoted indigenous peoples’ rights to land, life, and resources, firmly opposing policies and projects in the homefront that particularly cause the destruction of the environment and exploitation of women indigenous peoples and children.” Read more here. Go Gabriela! Go Flora! [Source: Northern Dispatch]
This is a video of Louie Mateo during a YawYan fighting challenge which he won. I do not know if Louie is Igorot but he wears an Igorot G-string in this fight. If he is not an Igorot, is it okay if he wears a G-string? If he is an Igorot, is it okay if he wears a G-string in events such as this? After all, he does increase our visibility which we, in an earlier post, said is very important.
