People Vs. Duntugan: Guilty as Charged

One of the major stories we covered in this blog, the killing of Peace Corps volunteer Julia Campbell and the subsequent trial of Juan Duntugan for murder, is now kinda coming to an end. The court has found that Duntugan is guilty of murdering Campbell and sentenced him to life in prison. I’m reprinting the Inquirer story below.

And here are the links to our previous stories:

Rapelling at the Kiangan War Memorial

I don’t know about you but this video bugs me a lot. Dude, it’s a shrine. A shrine is almost like a church or any place of worship. It is almost like a burial ground hallowed by the dead who lie there.

How Complete is Complete? Or Liar Liar Pants on Fire

Over at his blog, Peden is accusing the Cordillera DPWH Regional Director of lying for stating last April that the Phase 1 (Mt. Data to Bontoc) of the Halsema rehabilitation project is 79.61% complete and that Phase II (Bontoc to Banaue) is 90.67% accomplished.

As someone who has traveled both roads in the past months, I agree with Peden that there is no way that both projects are complete in the percentages reported.

There and Back Again …. A Blogger’s Tale By Bill Bilig Baggins

Apologies for the unannounced blogging hiatus. Like that silly hobbit Bilbo Baggins, I went off adventuring to other nooks and climes which, unfortunately, are full of goblins, trolls, giant spiders, and miserly dragons. Thankfully, there are also good people like the elves, the dwarves, the eagles, and the men of Dale. We all worked together to slay Smaug the miserly, fire-breathing dragon.

Heh. If only that is the reason for my blogging hiatus. The real problem actually is that my internet connection has been very problematic. And more urgent duties prevented me from blogging during hours when the connection is okay.
