Quote of the Day: Benguet Governor Nestor Fongwan

Benguet Governor Nestor Fongwan:

“Napocor paid P2 million in real estate taxes but that is only a drop in the bucket compared to what the government corporation actually owed the province.”

Because of this, the Benguet provincial government has sued the National Power Corporation for P198 million in unpaid taxes. Read Delmar Cariño’s story here.

Kudos to the Benguet leaders for their move. About time our local governments start asserting control over our resources. It should have happened a long time ago but better late than never.

Good for the government officials. At least they’re bit awaken. (Pera na yan ei..)
Agree, better late than never. (baka naman kasi di na nagbibigay sa bulsa ang napocor kaya ayun..)

Hi Ellen,
Thanks. Yup, better late than never. I hope they will pursue the case until they get the amount that the province deserves.

Hi Patechie,
Thanks. Nakikita naman nila — pag election. Hehe :-)

Hi Lord Manila,
Thanks. As I said to Ellen, let’s hope Benguet officials will pursue this case they filed.
